Nikon’s new line of mid-class Nikon DX-format digital-SLR cameras is here in the form of the Nikon D7000. The camera is equipped with a new 16.2 megapixel CMOS image sensor and a new image-processing engine, EXPEED 2, which enables capture of high-definition images exhibiting superior image quality. The D7000 is equipped with 1080p D-Movie function that enables recording of high-definition movies exhibiting superior video quality. This impressive camera also boasts a new 39-point AF system with 9 cross-type points, 2,016 pixel metering sensor, 100% viewfinder, ISO 100–6400 (expandable up to 25600), high speed continuous shooting up to 6fps, and dual SDHC/SDXC* memory card slots. The D7000 is a high-quality mid-class D-SLR that will respond to user demands for a variety of the latest camera technologies and functions, all in a durable, high-performance, yet compact body. This kit includes the Nikon D7000 body + Nikon 18-105mm VR Lens.

Movie Feature – captures Full HD video* with stereo audio up to 1920x1080 resolution at 24 fps and 1280x720p in a range of frame rates. Video format is .MOV (H.264/AVC). Full auto-focus (AF-F) and stereo sound recording via an external microphone. Additional in-camera movie editing functions allow users to save a single frame as a still JPEG image or cut footage from the beginning or end of movie files.

* We recommend using class 4 or higher memory cards for recording high definition video.

Key Features

16.2 Megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor - offers an effective pixel count of 16.2-million pixels and enables capture of high-definition images exhibiting superior image quality with extremely detailed rendering and rich tones with smooth gradations.
High ISO/Low Noise Performance - With standard sensitivity range of ISO100 - 6400 and additional increases of up to Hi 2 (ISO 25600 equivalent), the camera offers improved capability in shooting under dim lighting in the evening or indoors, and also expands possibilities for expression with rapidly moving subjects.
EXPEED 2 Image Processor - enables faster image processing, a high level of noise reduction, better colour reproduction characteristics, and reduced power consumption.
New 39-point AF system – Adoption of the new Multi-CAM4800DX autofocus sensor module enables certain acquisition and tracking of the intended subject with 39 focus points.
Nine cross-type sensors at the most frequently-used centre of the frame allow for certain acquisition of the intended subject.
New 2,016-pixel RGB metering sensor - offers twice the metering pixels as previous high-end metering sensor. Acquires accurate information regarding the scene; that information is then reflected in auto-focusing, automatic exposure, i-TTL balanced fill-flash, and auto white balance control for extremely faithful images.
Durability - the shutter mechanism assembly has been proven for 150,000 cycles under demanding conditions. The compact, ruggedly constructed strong-yet-lightweight magnesium alloy body also features dust and moisture seals.
Rapid Performance, 6fps Continuous Shooting - High-speed continuous shooting of up to 100 shots at approximately 6 fps. Remarkably fast and precise mirror movements, giving you an approx. 0.052 second shutter release time lag and an approx. 0.13 second start-up time.
Full HD 1080p HD-Movie Recording – shoot full high definition 1920x1080p movies whilst taking advantage of the Nikkor range of lenses to achieve exceptional results. Autofocusing during movie recording is possible using contrast-detect AF. When the focus mode is set to Full time-servo AF (AF-F) and the AF-area mode to Subject-tracking AF, the camera automatically maintains focus on a subject moving throughout the frame in three dimensions.
Bright 100% Viewfinder - A glass pentaprism for viewfinder frame coverage of approximately 100% and magnification of approximately 0.94×. The large, bright viewfinder makes for easier, more accurate composition.
User Settings on Mode Dial - New U1 and U2 settings on the mode dial allow users to assign frequently used settings including ISO sensitivity and exposure compensation, for instant recall, by simply rotating the mode dial
Active D-Lighting - vastly improve details in the shadows and highlights of high-contrast scenes.
Dual card slots for SDHC/SDXC memory cards - Two memory card slots offer a number of advantages: sequential recording; recording the same images simultaneously on two cards; recording RAW and JPEG separately onto two different cards; and duplicating images from one card to another. It’s also possible to designate a specific card with more memory for use at the time of movie recording.
Easy-to-access Live View mode - activated by pressing the dedicated Live View button, makes it easy to shoot while composing on the LCD monitor.
3.0-in. LCD monitor - Image playback and viewing menus is now easier than ever thanks to the beautiful high resolution 3.0-in., 921-k-dot LCD monitor - invaluable when confirming focus or assessing image sharpness. The wide 170˚ viewing angle and bright display make it easy to review images or confirm menu settings when shooting outdoors.
Quiet Shutter-release mode - by selecting “Q” on the release mode dial, photographers can opt to substantially reduce the sound of the camera’s mirror-down during shooting. This is particularly useful when shooting in restrictive conditions such as when photographing wildlife.
Picture Control System - make specific selections and adjustments to image sharpening, contrast, brightness, saturation and hue. There are four preset Picture Control options — Standard, Neutral, Vivid and Monochrome. You can also download two additional presets, Portrait and Landscape, from the Nikon website.
Dust Reduction System - This solution includes a special Airflow Control System that redirects dust away from the low-pass filter located in front of the image sensor. Additionally, when powering the camera on or off, the filter automatically vibrates at precise frequencies to release image-degrading dust that may adhere to it.
Stereo External Microphone Input – improve your HD movies by capturing better sound with an optional external microphone.

Electronic Virtual Horizon - Especially useful for landscape shooting, the virtual horizon indicated in the LCD lets you know when the camera is level. It can also be displayed during Live View shooting. Additionally, you can confirm whether the camera is level via the optical viewfinder with the Viewfinder virtual horizon.

Major Features

1. A new DX-format CMOS image sensor and new image-processing engine, EXPEED 2, both developed by Nikon, enable capture of high-definition images with superior image quality

The D7000 is equipped with a new Nikon DX-format CMOS image sensor and a new image-processing engine, EXPEED 2. The camera offers an effective pixel count of 16.2-million pixels and enables capture of high-definition images exhibiting superior image quality with extremely detailed rendering and rich tones with smooth gradations. With standard sensitivity range of ISO100 - 6400 and additional increases of up to Hi 2 (ISO 25600 equivalent), the camera offers improved capability in shooting under dim lighting in the evening or indoors, and also expands possibilities for expression with rapidly moving subjects.
EXPEED 2 is Nikon's latest image-processing engine developed using the ideas, expertise and technologies in digital imaging that Nikon has cultivated over the years. EXPEED 2 enables faster image processing, a high level of noise reduction, better color reproduction characteristics, and reduced power consumption.

2. A compact, elegant body that offers both authenticity and flexibility

A magnesium alloy has been adopted for the top and rear covers for increased durability in a size equivalent to that of the D90. All joints on the camera body have also been sealed to ensure a greater level of water and dust resistance.

3. A new 2,016-pixel RGB metering sensor

With 2,016 pixels, the new metering sensor developed for the D7000 offers twice the metering pixels as our previous high-end metering sensor. Prior to shooting, the 2,016-pixel RGB sensor acquires accurate information regarding the scene. That information is then reflected in auto-focusing, automatic exposure, i-TTL balanced fill-flash, and auto white balance control for extremely faithful images.

4. A new 39-point AF system

An AF sensor module with 39 effective focus points
Adoption of the new Multi-CAM4800DX autofocus sensor module enables certain acquisition and tracking of the intended subject with 39 focus points.
Nine cross-type sensors at the most frequently used center of the frame allow for certain acquisition of the intended subject. In addition, the number of active focus points can also be limited to 11. www.mynikonlife.com.au 3
Superior subject acquisition and tracking performance
Depending upon the scene or subject, the AF-area mode can be selected from Single-point AF, Dynamic-area AF, 3D-tracking and Auto-area AF. Wide focus areas containing a large number of focus points work together to accurately acquire and track the subject.

5. D-Movie for recording and editing of full HD movies

The D7000 is equipped with the D-Movie function that enables recording of high-definition movies (1920 × 1080p, 24 fps) exhibiting superior video quality.
