Canon has just announced the 1000D digital SLR replacing the 400D. Featuring a 12-bit, 10.1 megapixel, 3 frames per second, live view mode and the Digic III image processor.

Sigma have announced that there will be an upgrade available for their two new large-range telephoto zoom lenses, the 120-400mm f/4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM and 150-500mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM for Canon mount, to address an issue when attached to the Canon EOS-40D.  The problem is encountered when the OS function is switched on  then the number of continuous frames per second decreases. The affected lenses are:

APO 120-400mm f/4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM for Canon - Serial Numbers lower than 1011001

APO 150-500mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM for Canon - Serial Numbers lower than 1007001

The firmware has already been upgraded for lenses with Serial Numbers above these.

CR Kennedy, the Australian distributor for Sigma Lenses, have indicated that they will supply the free upgrade from today. www.crkennedy.com.au

Canon has released firmware version 1.2.3 for the Canon EOS-1D Mk III digital SLR. It incorporates the following features/improvements:

1. Direction selection of AF points by multi-controller to C.Fn menu
2. Exposure compensation accessed via alternative method in C.Fn IV
3. Improvement in low light focusing
4. Extra flash/wireless settings

Canon has released a firmware update (Version 1.0.8) which addresses the following:

1. Fixes a phenomenon in which Image Stabilization operation emits a sound when certain buttons are pressed, with the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens attached to the camera.
2. Fixes a phenomenon in which the Image Stabilization operation emits a sound from the lens when IS lenses are attached to the camera.
3. Fixes a phenomenon in which a part of the image looks unnatural when reviewed on the LCD.
4. Corrects errors in the Spanish and Norwegian menu screens.

Please ensure you have firmware Version 1.0.5 before applying the 1.0.8 update.
