Sony have updated the Alpha A700 Digital SLR’s firmware to ver. 4. The upgrade adds the following fixes and improvements:

1. Add the choice of “2 steps/ 3 shots” to auto exposure bracketing (single and continuous)
2. Add the choice of Off to the High ISO NR feature
3. Improvement of the image quality in high ISO setting
4. Improvement of the performance of the auto white balance and the D-Range Optimizer
5. Improvement of reliability for communication between camera body and vertical grip when attaching the vertical grip

IMPORTANT: This firmware update is only for a DSLR-A700 camera that has Ver.1, Ver.2 or Ver.3 of the firmware installed.

Sony Australia has announced the Alpha Centre. An online resource for hobbist and professional photographers to discuss their craft of painting with light (photography).

Sony has just released a new firmware for the A700 Digital SLR.

Improvements over Firmware “Ver.2”:

• When pictures are taken rapidly, the access lamp may stay lit and the system may become inoperable.
• When turning off the camera when the “MR” mode is selected, some settings registered in the MR mode can be reflected in other shooting modes.

Improvements over Firmware “Ver.1”:

• The picture sharpness is better under low contrast conditions.
• Noise is reduced when working at high sensitivity ISO setting.
• The flash control is better at close range with a non-ADI control lens.
