The Ricoh GX100 has been awarded the “iF Product Design Award 2008″.

The high-performance Caplio GX100* compact camera (introduced April 2007) of Ricoh Co., Ltd., has been awarded an iF gold award in the “iF product design award 2008″ competition, which recognizes product design excellence.
The iF product design award is one of the most prestigious design competitions in the world, managed by iF International Forum Design GmbH. Not limited to Germany, the competition receives many entries from throughout the world, and the international acclaim that accompanies an iF product design award brings strong global appraisal for the winners.
In 2008, 821 products received iF awards, with 50 products being presented gold awards. The iF gold selection 2008 announcement and presentation ceremony were held in Hannover, Germany, on March 4.
*Caplio GX100 Introduced April 2007, the Caplio GX100 is filled with functions and capabilities to enhance the enjoyment of people who love photographs. Included are a 24mm wide-angle(35mm film camera equivalent) 3x optical zoom lens, a removable LCD viewfinder, easy-to-use manual operation settings, square-format photography functions, etc.
Olympus has released a firmware upgrade for two of their 14-42mm Zuiko & 40-150mm Zuiko lenses. The firmware upgrade enables the full features of the E-420 to be used with the 14-42 & 40-150mm lenses.

Casio has released a new firmware for their Exilim EX-V7 digital camera (world’s slimmest camera with 7x optical zoom!). The firmware update “Fixes problems that occurred with certain settings when playing back a movie recorded with a wide screen aspect ratio on a TV connected to the AV output jack (AV OUT).”

Pentax USA has announced it’s new V-series compact digital camera with the V20 featuring an eight megapixel CCD image sensor, Pentax branded 5x optical zoom lens and a generous 3″ LCD screen.
Face detection, Smile Capture and Blink Detection is featured alongside the 10cm maco mode and Auto-tracking AF for continuously focusing a moving subject.
Adobe has released an update to it’s photo management software, Photoshop Lightroom, to 1.4. It provides additional camera support for the Canon EOS 450D (Digital Rebel XSi/EOS Kiss X2), Nikon D60, Sony A350, and more; Updated printer driver compatibility for Mac OS X v10.5 (Leopard).
